Have You Seen The Disney Road Safety Scheme?

Educating children about how to stay safe on the roads is an important part of being a parent and, depending on the ages of the children you’re looking after, could be something you’re involved with if you take au pair jobs in the UK.

One of the biggest children’s entertainment companies has now got involved in educating children on road safety. CBBC’s Newsround reported that Disney has joined in with the campaign to help keep kids safe on the streets.

The new campaign, which sees favorite Disney characters such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and Donald Duck on road signs, is designed to get children to think more about road safety, as well as to remind drivers that it’s important to slow down around schools and nurseries.

Margaret Calvert OBE, the official UK road sign designer, was involved in their creation. The news provider explained that although the road signs look real, they won’t actually be put up on the streets.

They’re to be used in classrooms as a teaching aid to help young children learn about road safety. It’s all part of a campaign being run by Brake.

The signs will also be available to download, which means parents or au pairs could use them if they want to teach children more about road safety while they’re at home.

Next month, road safety charity Brake will be running a special event around the UK to get more children to think about road safety. This one will use the beloved Aardman character Shaun the Sheep, who will join youngsters around the country for the Kids Walk on 26 June.

The event is designed to promote road safety, as well as the health and environmental benefits of walking more.
