High-End Au Pairs Can Earn ‘Up To £104,000’

If you’re mulling over the idea of starting a career as an au pair in London or elsewhere, you may well be swayed by the news that such professionals with high-end positions can earn up to £104,000 a year.

New research from Direct Line’s SELECT Premier Insurance has found that au pairs can now earn over four times the national average annual salary, which currently stands at £23,474. And it’s not just cash you can take home – some are even afforded benefits like their own flat or house, car allowances, holidays, bonuses, private health insurance, travel expenses and free gym memberships.

But don’t expect the job to be an easy ride and you should also be aware that some families are looking for obscure and interesting criteria, such as having ski instructor qualifications or specific language capabilities.

“Making sure that your children have the best possible care is a top priority for all parents. As a result, families are spending more and more to ensure that their child is safe and looked after by someone that is reliable, responsible and a good role model. Whilst ensuring that a nanny can provide the best level of care for your children, and will be able to meet their needs and demands, parents should also ensure they can trust the nanny being in their home unsupervised,” head of SELECT Premier Insurance Nick Brabham said.

Typical au pair duties will include helping the parents with daily routines with the kids, sorting out laundry, helping with shopping and cooking, cleaning, and entertaining the children.
