What To Do In London In December
Those of you taking on jobs with a London au pair agency will no doubt be thinking up all sorts of fun ideas and activities to do with your young charges this winter… and with December just around the corner, there are all sorts of festive goings-on to enjoy. Here are just a couple that might take your fancy.
Southbank Centre’s Wintertime Festival
Next month will see the Southbank Centre transformed into a winter wonderland, an annual festival along the River Thames. There’s a Christmas market, festive shows, lots of family entertainment, a giant Christmas tree, Christmas concerts, traditional choir performances, a seasonal show and a lot more.
Alice in Winterland at Southwark Park
The kids will surely love the illuminated Flower Garden and the lifesized chess set, as well as meeting some of the most iconic characters from the beloved Lewis Carrol book, including the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter and, of course, Alice herself. There’s also the chance to see Father Christmas in his grotto, lots of seasonal food on offer and carols sung by local choirs.
Make your way to the Warner Bros Studio for a festive tour of the making of Harry Potter. Christmas trees line the Great Hall, the top section of the hall has been transformed with snow, icicles and magical instruments for the Yule Ball, and there’s a replica festive feast complete with flaming Christmas puddings.
You’ll be able to get up close and personal to all the props, costumes and models used in the films, and check out the movie sets as well – all as they were for the festive scenes in the movies.
