Pinterest Offers Ideas For Kids Parties

If you’re working in au pair jobs, chances are that you’ll have to help plan a children’s birthday party (or two) during your time with a family.

That can be great fun, but sometimes it can be hard to come up with creative ideas. Step up Pinterest, which has recently published its 2019 trend report, and there are a couple of great suggestions for kids’ parties if you need some inspiration.

For something that gets all the little ones outdoors, consider setting up a scavenger hunt. You can make it as detailed or simple as you want. If you want to do this in winter keep it short and sweet, while you can create longer trails in the warmer months.

Searches for birthday scavenger hunts were up by 302 per cent on the site this year. You could also get the children you’re looking after to help you make some of the elements.

Another popular theme for birthday parties appears to be enchanted forests. According to the website, searches for this term were up 238 per cent this year. Think indoor trees, toadstool chairs and fairy garlands, it suggested.

When it comes to the birthday cake, another trend noticed by the site is that for number cakes. This is perfect for little ones and you can decorate your number-shaped cake in anything that will make it personal to the birthday boy or girl.

Last month, one mum made the case for keeping kids’ birthday parties small and only inviting close friends rather than the entire class. Writing for Scary Mommy, Karen Johnson said that this not only makes organising a gathering easier, but also makes them more special for the person celebrating their birthday.
